The University of Auckland is a university located in Auckland, New Zealand. It is the largest and leading university in the country, and was ranked 82ⁿᵈ worldwide in the 2011 QS World University Rankings.
Establishment: The University of Auckland was established in 1883 as a college of the University of New Zealand and it became completely independent in 1962.
Student strength: The University of Auckland is the largest New Zealand university and there were 40,784 students studying there in 2012 out of which 5,301 were international students from 93 countries.
Ranking: The University of Auckland was the highest ranked New Zealand University being ranked 83 in the QS World rankings (2012) and 161 in Times Higher Education World rankings (2012). It also ranked highly in the individual subject areas of the QS World Rankings and was placed at 59 in Arts and Humanities, 50 in Life Sciences and Medicine, 85 in Natural Science, 44 in Social Sciences and Management, and 68 in Engineering and Technology.
