(The PBRF or Performance-Based Research Fund is the Government of New Zealand’s formal assessment of the research performance of tertiary institutions.) It was ranked first or second in 24 out of 36 the subject areas that were offered and its Faculty of Law was ranked as New Zealand’s number 1 law school for research quality. It is also ranked at 23 for Law and Legal Studies in the QS World rankings (2012) where it had an overall rank of 237. Also, it was rated as 12 in Oceania in the Times Higher Education ratings.
