The Auckland University of Technology is a university in New Zealand. It was formed on 1 January 2000 when the Auckland Institute of Technology was granted university status.

Establishment: Auckland University of Technology (AUT) was established as a polytechnic in 1895 and granted university status in the year 2000.

Student strength: AUT is New Zealand’s second largest and fastest growing university with a total of 26,243 students enrolled to study there in 2011, and 2,369 out of those were international students.

Ranking: AUT is ranked in the top 500 universities in the world in QS World rankings (2012) and the AUT Business School is ranked by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business) as being within the top 6% of business schools worldwide.
